One of the problems that occur in the generator is the instability of the resulting voltage. Voltage instability in the generator is caused by fluctuating loads. Therefore, a voltage regulator is needed, namely the Automatic Voltage Regulator (AVR). Automatic Voltage Regulator serves to increase or decrease the current amplification (excitation). The purpose of this study is to see the effect of changes in load on the generator output voltage and to see the condition of the AVR of PLTU Ombilin. The research method used is quantitative by using data analysis and ultilizing existing theory as supporting material. From the results of the study, it was found that the generator output voltage was stable at 11.2 kV against varying loads when the load increases, the generator output voltage drops, the AVR will increase the excitation current to increase the generator output voltage to keep it stable at its nominal value. and the highest percentage value of voltage regulation was -1.88% and the lowest value -2.54%. This value is still below the limit set by the company, which is ± 10%.} }
