In PLTU Banten 3 Lontar there are a lot of electrical devices that consumed power and energy in large amounts, for example boiler furnace?s fans. One of them is FD Fan, where FD Fan itself has the function to blow outside air to the furnace chamber. FD Fan is moved by induction motors that consumed large amounts of energy which is 500 kilowatts. From this matter, the writer wants to apply Variable Speed Drive to decrease the energy consumption of FD Fan with an examination which open the damper of FD Fan into 100% open. Where Damper has the function to control the amount of air that flows through the FD Fan into the furnace chamber. From the examination and data calculation the writer did in this study, the energy consumption is 69% decreased. The writer also did a calculation of payback period with the estimated investment cost and calculate the profit of energy consumption cost per month. The result of the payback period calculation is, the investment cost will return in approximately 5 months.} }
