The quality of electrical energy distribution needs to be considered based on the performance of the transformer in work because the reliability of the transformer is very influential in supplying electrical energy to customers. To avoid damage, it is necessary to pay attention to the use of insulating media as a protector. The research that has been done is about discussing the thickness of the kraft paper insulation with the increase in the oil temperature level and the length of soaking the paper in oil on the breakdown voltage value. The results showed that the paper thickness of 2.5 mm in dry conditions had an effect on increasing the breakdown voltage value of 20.05 kV/mm with a dielectric strength of 80.02 kV/cm. Meanwhile, the use of paper thickness with oil immersion and the increase in the oil temperature level at an average of 60°C also greatly affects the non-linear increase in the breakdown voltage value. Paper insulation on oil at a temperature of 70°C tends to experience a decrease in the breakdown voltage value, which is caused by paper cellulose which is getting worse due to the increase in temperature and due to contact with air being one of the causes of insulation failure. The greater the breakdown voltage value, the insulation will work well on a capacity transformer 20 kV} }
