So, medium voltage lines (MVL) can be exposed thunder strike. Thunder strikes are divided into 2, namely direct strikes and indirect strikes. Direct strikes lead into phase line or ground wire those are applied to MVL, but probability MVL are stroke by direct strikes is incredibly small, because MVL are passing through the residence there are many trees. While, indirect strikes would lead to the trees near MVL, however because the basic insulation of MVL relatively low, direct strikes can cause induction overvoltage that is be able cause disturbance. Applying ground wire can reduce disturbance that caused by direct strikes and indirect strikes.Therefore in this study, will be analyzed mounting of ground wire passing through the trees area on medium voltage lines 20 kV at Lukisan feeder in PT.PLN Area Teluk Naga. The disturbance of thunder strike before mounting of ground wire is 322,116 flasover/ 100 km/ year and after mounting of ground wire is 23,755 flashover/ 100 km/ year. Then, decrease percentage of thunder strikes disturbace with mounting of ground wire is 92,625 %.} }
