Power generators generates electrical energy which is then distributed in large amount to the substations. Substations are generally built in urban areas, the load center, while, the power plants are generally built away from urban areas. substation equipment have to be able to withstand the possible fault current especially the circuit breaker that must be capable of cutting off the fault current. so, short-circuit calculations are needed. There are two short circuit calculations. a) 3-phase short-circuit current, the highest 3-phase short-circuit current to grounding. b) 1-phase short-circuit current to grounding, 1-phase short-circuit current to grounding is a type of fault that usually occurs. In calculatingthe chort circuit here, use software ETAP 12.6 to simplify calculation. This thesis discuss regarding circuit breaker capacity on 150kV side at Cempaka Substation, which is obtained by calculating 2 types of short-circuit current given above. Highest short-circuit current obtained for the 3-phase faults to grounding amounts to 8,859 kA and 6,746 kA for 1-phase short-circuit current fault, while disconnecting capability of the circuit breaker is far higher compared to the fault current, amounts to 40 kA. In summary, installed circuit breaker still complies with a good and reliable protection system standards.} }
