DSS}, year={2018}, url={http://156.67.221.169/804/}, abstract={Synchronous generators require the presence of an amplifier magnetic field to produce electrical voltage at the terminal. The magnetic field of the amplifier in the synchronous generator is obtained from the resulting excitation current from the exciter system. The effect of the excitation system is very important to maintain the stability of the generator output for changing load changes. to keep the generator output voltage to remain stable, it is assisted by Automatic Voltage Regulator (AVR). AVR is an excitation amplifier automatic voltage regulator on the exciter. If the generator voltage is below the nominal voltage then the AVR stabilizes the voltage by increasing the amplifier current and vice versa. Changes to the generator excitation current will affect the size of the reactive power produced, the reactive power generated will affect the power factor in the generator. The reactive power setting is automatically set in the exciter panel by adjusting the excitation current value that will enter the generator, so that the reactive power (MVAR) will be smaller than the active power (MW). If the excitation current increases, the reactive power will increase while the power factor will decrease. If the excitation current decreases, the reactivity value will decrease while the power factor will increase.} }
