		abstract={The author wrote a thesis with the title: "Theological-Ethical Review of the Implementation of the Ma'pateka' Somba Tradition based on the concept of dowry in the Bible". In the background section, the 
author provides an explanation regarding Ma'pateka' Somba, which is only limited to the requirements that must be passed because of the demands of custom and tradition in which the two sides of the family bring together to discuss how much dowry will be used in the implementation of the wedding that goes well. So the writer uses a qualitative descriptive research method, where the researcher will look at the situation in the field with the intention of describing the situation in a more specific, transparent and in-depth way. From the research results obtained by the author, that there are still many men who are not married because of the demands of customs and traditions that apply in matters of marriage. The cause of this is because they feel proud of the dowry given or because of demands from the families of both parties, even though the two prospective bride and groom have agreed on the amount of dowry to be used. There is nothing wrong with giving a dowry in the Padang Alla region, but the meaning has changed from what it should have been. Where not to give the wrong interpretation of the Ma'pateka' Somba tradition itself which was originally very good to do. A marriage that God has made as a legal institution is not an obstacle for someone who wants to get married. With that, don't make the dowry the determining factor in a marriage, which in essence is only for the glory of God. The success of a marriage if both sides of the family do not compare how much is given by the groom. Whether there is a dowry in a marriage. This is not a barrier for everyone who wants to enter the household. The marriage blessing performed by the Toraja Church provides leeway for everyone who wants to get married not to think about what to use in marriage.}
