One of the objectives of English teaching language is that the students are able to communicate in spoken fluently. An adequate method of Teaching English Foreign language (TEFL) can help them to improve their motivation so directly can improve their speaking ability. According to the researcher’PPL experience, in junior high school, it shows that there were still limited interaction and life in speaking class. Almost all of students were unwilling to express their feeling or opinion using their English language. Almost of students have a low motivation in second language learning. It causes they lack of speaking skill. So, the teacher should know how to improve their students’ motivation and finally, it can improve their students’ speaking ability. This research was intended to find out whether teaching speaking using Community Language Learning (CLL) improve students’ motivation significantly in their English speaking ability and to analyze how far motivation contributes to the students English speaking ability after being taught by using Community Language Learning at second grade of SMPN 22 Bandar Lampung.The one group pretest-posttest design was applied. The subject of the research was the second grade of SMPN 22 Bandar Lampung in the year 2011-2012. The researcher used the questionnaire motivation test and speaking test as the instrument of the research and Repeated measures T-test was accomplished to analyzed the data. The result showed that the students taught through Community language Learning seemed to be enjoyable and interested in learning since the students could provide a good response during teaching learning process. It can be seen from the increase of the students’ mean score. The mean score of the students’ motivation pretest was 51.43 and 49.65 in speaking ability while the mean of the posttest was 63.25 in motivation and 68.15 in speaking ability. After comparing the result of the pretest and the posttest, the writer found out that the mean score of the students had increased 11.82 in motivation and 18.5 in speaking ability. The total score of the students’ motivation pretest was 1647 while the total score of the posttest was 2024. The increase was 377. The total score of students speaking ability pretest was 1589 and the postest was 2151, so the increase was 592. Based on the data analysis at the significant level of 0.05, the researcher found that p=0.000. It proves that the students’ scores increased significantly (p>0.05, p=0.000) and the students’ active learning was better. It means that there was a significant improvement of the students’ motivation in their speaking ability. In other words, teaching speaking through Community Language Learning is considered to be better in increasing the students’ motivation and it can be used as a reference to teach English speaking. So, this method in teaching speaking is recommended. } }
