Areca cleavage carried out by the community is still in the traditional way and requires special skills, a large number of workers, long working hours so that they have a low working capacity and the opportunity for work accidents is quite large. This design aims to facilitate a job by designing a Areca cleaving machine using an electric motor as an appropriate technology for the community with a larger capacity than traditional cleavage and attention to work safety. In this study,samples of old betel nut with a moisture content of 71.5% came from the Bengkalis area with a sample weight of 3 kg, 5 kg and 7 kg for each repetition. The repetition was carried out 3 times so that the total sample used was 15 kg. From the tests that have been carried out, the effective working capacity of the machine is 124.5 kg/hour. Overall, this betel nut splitting machine has a greater working capacity when compared to manual cleavage.} }
