The advantages of this material include light weight, good mechanical ability and corrosion resistance. Composites consist of matrix and reinforcement. The matrix is usually a polymer that is either a thermoset or a thermoplastic. While the reinforcement consists of synthetic fibers, natural fibers and particles or powders. This study aims to determine the effect of variations in alkali immersion time on the tensile strength of the arenga pinata fiber-reinforced polyester composite, fracture morphology, and the feasibility of the research results as a car dashboard. Composites were made using the hand lay-up method, polyester 157 BQTN (UPRs), 0° fiber orientation, 190 mm fiber length, 10% fiber volume fraction and 1% matrix weight catalyst. The results of the tensile test on arenga pinata fiber composites with variations in alkaline immersion time of 60 minutes have an average tensile stress of 28,22 MPa. The variation of 90 minutes alkaline immersion time has an average tensile stress of 33,61 MPa. The variation of alkaline immersion time of 120 minutes has an average tensile stress of 22,18 MPa. And for variations in immersion time of 150 minutes it has a tensile stress of 31,06 MPa.} }
