In its application, the selection of the welding process can be determined based on consideration of quality improvement. This study aims to investigate the strength and microstructure analysis on the low carbon plate AISI 1006. The welding process in this research is SMAW (Shielded Metal Arc Welding) using current variations of 75 A, 80 A, 85 A and using E6013 electrodes with a diameter of 2,6 mm with and without cooling treatment. Tests carried out in this research are tensile strength test and microstructure analysis both in the welded area and HAZ. The results showed that the highest average tensile strength was obtained at 80 A current variation by perlakuan cooling treatment with a value of 332.602 MPa, while the lowest average tensile strength was obtained at 80 A current variation without perlakuan cooling treatment with a value of 243,467 MPa. The tensile strength of the raw material is 373,037 MPa. Microstructure of the material both with and without perlakuan cooling treatment showed that the HAZ changes in size with the form of pearlite and ferrite solid fractions, while in the welded area, the microstructure changes in size with the form of columns (pillars).} }
