Inappropriate handling can cause greater harm, requiring pharmacological and non-pharmacological management. Objective : This scientific paper aims to analyze the application of giving boiled bay leaves to reduce uric acid levels in gout arthritis sufferers in providing nursing care. Methods : Descriptive case study with the application of evidence based nursing practice in providing nursing care. The client in the case there were 2 clients, was given a decoction of bay leaves (Syzygium polyathum) 2x 200 grams (20 pieces of medium size)/day for 3 days. Before and after the intervention, the two clients measured their uric acid levels for 3 days. Result : Client I: pre-intervention mean = 8.4 and post 8.5 (day I uric acid levels remained 8.8 mg/dl, day II decreased 0.1 mg/dl, day -III uric acid levels increased by 0.4 mg/dl). Whereas the second client: the average pre-intervention = 7.2 and post 7.2 (the first day the uric acid level decreased by 0.1 mg/dl, the second day remained 7.2 mg/dl, the third day III uric acid levels decreased by 0.1 mg/dl). The results showed that there was no decrease in uric acid levels after being given the intervention. Suggestion : Bay leaves should be considered for lowering uric acid levels and it is necessary to control uric acid levels and consult a doctor.} }
