One of them is Google Translate. The rapid development of Google Translate makes the world of writing easier to access. This study aims to determine and investigate the benefits, frequency, and purpose of using Google Translate in the field of writing. The population used in this study is students of English education at one private university in Palembang. This research used a qualitative case study as the research design. The instruments use questionnaires and interviews; the instruments are obtained by adapted from Andari (2021). The research data are analyzed with a four-step method, namely: data collection, data reduction, displaying data, and drawing conclusions. The results of this study show that teacher education students feel very helped by the presence of Google Translate as a supplementary tool in completing their writing tasks, ranging from regular translation activities to searching for vocabulary they are unfamiliar with.
