		abstract={Background: Increasing children's readiness to face menarche is influenced by maturity and intelligence (maturation) by providing health education about menarche as a picture of children facing menarche. Leaflet and video media are suitable media for children because they can influence children's thinking patterns.
Objective : To know the difference in the level of readiness of prepubertal children before and after being given health education about menarche.
Methods: The design of this study used a pre-experimental design with a one group pretest-posttest design approach. The sample in this study was prepubertal 5th grade children with 42 samples using total sampling technique. The research instrument used a questionnaire with leaflet and video media.
The results of the study: univariate analysis for the median variable of the respondent's age was 11 years. Readiness before being given health education obtained a median value of 65 and after being given health education a median value of 95 was obtained. The results of the hypothesis with the Wilcoxon test obtained a p-value (0.001) <0.05.
Conclusion : There are differences in the readiness of prepubertal children before and after being given health education about menarche.
Suggestion: It is hoped that teachers at SD Negeri 132 Palembang can improve the quality of health education, especially facilities and infrastructure related to health education about menarche.}
