		abstract={ABSTRACT

The background of this research is based on basic competence 3.9 observing the characters found in fiction texts, in grade IV Elementary School using children's story books. This study aims to describe the characters and characterizations that focus on the main protagonist in the story in the book anak getuk by Triman Laksana, published by the Ministry of Education and Culture of the Language Development and Development Agency. This research uses qualitative research with descriptive method. Data collection techniques were carried out through document analysis and using researcher triangulation. Based on the results of the research, it was found that the character values of the main protagonist are diligent, smart, optimistic, enthusiastic, happy to help, polite, ignorant, generous, patient, obedient to worship diligently, not confident, self-development, grateful, learning. from failure, and humble when praised.}
