Since film is also reflecting human real life, it can be taken lesson from it such as: psychological effect of the main character. The film with title Mercury Rising is interesting to be analyzed because this film describes a child with disability, who succeeds to do something which is difficult to be done by normal adult with high intelligence. The purposes of the study are to investigate the psychological conflicts faced by Simon Lynch as the main character in Mercury Rising Film and to investigate the causes of the psychological conflicts faced by Simon Lynch as the main character in Mercury Rising Film. This study used qualitative research because this study does not present the data in numerical analysis, but uses the words to answer the questions. It investigates the psychological conflicts faced by Simon Lynch as the main character in Mercury Rising Film. The results of this study showed that the result of data analysis, it was found out that the types of psychological conflicts that the main character faced were categorized into avoidance-avoidance conflict and approach-avoidance conflict. Avoidance-avoidance conflict occurred when he was confused whether he had to escape from the detective or give himself up to the detective, he might get the negative result, that is, he would be killed by the detective liked his parents. Approach-avoidance conflict occurred when he was confused whether he had to be with Art Jeffries, a detective of Federal Bureau of Intelligence (FBI), or to escape from Art. which both brought bad and good effects, namely: being free but his safety was threatened or being not free but his safety was protected. After knowing the result, it can be concluded that this film contains avoidance-avoidance conflict and approach-avoidance conflict which were caused by the threat to his needs} }
