So they need to learn about emotional competence to express and regulate it all correctly. One effective learning method to improve children's emotional competence is role playing. The method of role playing trains children to explain attitudes, other people's feelings, understanding, self-identification of developing values, other people's perspectives. The purpose of this study is to know the role playing method can be used to improve the emotional competence of school-age children. This study used a quasi-experimental research design of two group pretest-posttest. This study uses the primary school age population and the target population of this study is grade II elementary school. So this study involved 16 participants and was divided into experimental groups and control groups. This study uses an emotional competency measuring instrument. The results showed a significant increase of the Wilcoxon test with a value of p = 0.010; Z = - 2,585. Thus it can be concluded that the role playing method can be used to improve the emotional competence of school-age children.} }
