So can used to anti-acne drug in the form of emulgel using carbomer base that is safe to use and does not irritate the skin. Research Objective : This study was to determine the effect of concentration 0.5%, 1% , 1.5% carbomer on physical characteristics and stability of 1% citronella oil emulgel preparation. Method : Carbomer was formulated into emulgel in 3 formulas, FI (0.5%), FII (1%), FIII (1.5%) with 1% citronella oil. Physical characteristics test include organoleptic, viscosity, homogeneity, spreadability, emulsion type, pH and stability (real time and freeze-thaw). Results : The test results were characteristic of FI (0.5%), FII (1%), FIII (1.5%) is semi-solid, soft, white, distinctive smell of citronella oil, no coarse grains and an O/W. One Way Anova test the results were not significantly different for pH, freeze thaw, real time stability temperature of 30 ± 2ºC, 40 ± 2ºC and significantly different for viscosity, spreadability and real time stability test temperature 4 ± 2ºC. Conclusion : Based on the test of the physical characteristics and stability of the citronella oil emulgel, FI (0.5%) was found to provide optimal results.} }
