One learning model that could optimize student learning activities is Problem Based Learning (PBL). The purposes of this research are (1) to know the learning process, through the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model, in increasing the activity of student learning in SD NegeriRanji Kabupaten Sukabumi's grade IV, and (2) to increase the student learning activity using the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model in SD Negeri Ranji Kabupaten Sukabumi. This type of research is called the Classroom Action Research (PTK), with 30 grade IV students as its subjects. The data of this study is collected through the methods of (1) observational sheets, (2) questionnaire, (3) documentation, and (4) field notes.The data collection is done through observational sheets activity of students to study and observation sheets is placed on teacher performance. The research on student learning activities in the Science subject shows that (1) the average score results in classical teacher performance at cycle I of 80 % was increased by 13 %, becoming 93% on cycle II. (2) A 25 % increase on the average score of student learning activity in the Science subject from 68 % on cycle I, becoming 93% on cycle II. In conclusion, based on the results of this research, the implementation of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model in the Science subject especially in SD Negeri Ranji Kabupaten Sukabumi's grade IV can improve activity and results in the Science subject.} }
