ABSTRACT The Islam boarding school has been considered as education instituional model that has superiority, in the knowledge culture as great culture, even in internal and tranmission morality. On the other hand, the boarding school is also the role of education empowerment and civil society transformation. Islam teacher as the leader of boarding school has an important role in building its culture to form a different institution to another. Because its character is as organization identity, and interpreted as substantive superiority establishment process and indicated by two things : the growth of cultural scientific and the clarity of boarding school management system. In this thesis research , answering the research questions are by analyzing and revealing islam leadership style in raising boarding school quality, strategy, and the implication of islam teacher leadership. This research used qualitative approach with single case study. Its used intensive interview, document participative observation. The informant was purposive. The data forms were words, notes, reports, and the document gotten from the boarding school caretaker, teachers, and then students of al-islamul ainul bahiroh boarding school Kepanjen Malang. The collected data were validity checked by triangular credibility checked, members and colleague discussion. The steps of data analysis were (1) data reduction, (2) data presentation (3) conclusion making. The result of this thesis research were as follows (1) the leadership style of islam teacher in raising was with charismatic authoritative single leadership. (2) the leadership strategies were (a) changing the teacher mindset. (b) holding cooperation with company or factory. (c) increasing student quality. (e) rasing curriculum. (f) increasing the tools and infrastructures. (g) and making vision, mission, as the aim of Al-islamul Ainul Bahiroh Islamic Boarding School. (3) the implication of the head leadership in raising islamic boarding school is that he carries positive alterations, argued by it has produced autonomous graduates in technology and has been recruited in the company or factory ABSTRAK Pondok pesantren telah dianggap sebagai model institusi pendidikan yang mempunyai keunggulan, baik dalam tradisi keilmuannya sebagai salah satu tradisi yang agung (great tradition), maupun pada sisi transmisi dan internalisasi moralitasnya. Di sisi lain pesantren juga merupakan pendidikan yang dapat memainkan peran pemberdayaan (empowerment) dan transformasi civil society secara efektif. Kiai sebagai pimpinan pondok pesantren juga mempunyai peran penting dalam membangun budaya pesantren untuk membentuk karakter lembaga yang dapat membedakan dengan lembaga lainnya.
