ABSTRACT

Teachers are the key to success for an educational institustion. Both of the good or bad teaching behavior or teaching procedures will affect the image of the educational institution itself. In this globalization era the advances of science and technology increasingly sophisticated and run into a very fast exchange. Professionalism in that field is required, especially the teacher professionalism. In realizing the vision of MA Hidayatul Mubtadiin definitely there is the role of professional teacher as support that is able to providing a complete and comprehensive that are included and also can improve the quality of education in MA Hidayatul Mubtadiin.

This research aims to review and discuss in depth the strategy of professional teacher development in MA Hidayatul Mubtadiin with the focus of discussion : 1) The steps of principal leadership strategy, 2) the obstacles thatencountered in developing the professional competencies, 3) suggested model for developing the professional competencies of teacher.

This research using a descriptive qualitative approach. Data collection done by interview, observation dan documentation. Data analytics techniques include data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion. Examining the validation of data is done by extension of researcher?s participation, triangulation techniques using various sources, theory and method; and observational presistence. Informant for this research is principal, vice chairman of curriculum, and teachers.

The results of  this research showed that : (1) principal leadership strategy in developing the professional competencies of teacher to improve the quality of education is formal strategy, the teachers is assigned by the institution to take education and training, the second is non-formal strategy, the teachers on his own desire and efforts to train and develop himself related to his job or position. (2) there is some obstacles encountered in developing professional competencies of teacher are lacking or limitation of IT knowledge in school and time limitations, lack of teachers creativity in learning process at class and less of books collection or school facility, and less of scientific paper made by teachers. (3) model that can be used to improve the teachers professionalism at their duties is in service training

ABSTRAK

Guru merupakan kunci keberhasilan suatu lembaga pendidikan. Baik buruknya perilaku atau tata cara mengajar guru akan sangat mempengaruhi citra lembaga pendidikan. Zaman globalisasi ini kemajuan ilmu pengetahuan dan teknologi yang semakin canggih dan mengalami pertukaran yang sangat cepat. Profesionalisme dalam bidang tersebut sangat diharuskan, terutama profesionalisme guru. Dalam Mewujudkan visi MA Hidayatul Mubtadiin tersebut tentunya ada peran Sumber Daya Guru yang profesional, sebagai penunjang yang mampu menyelenggarakan pendidikan secara utuh dan menyeluruh yang termuat serta dapat meningkatkan mutu pendidikan di MA Hidayatul Mubtadiin.
