ABSTRACT Through the teacher certification program, the government is trying to make teachers in Indonesia as professional teachers, professional teachers are demands that must be met in order to improve the quality of learning in schools. Due to the importance of a teacher's professionalism it is necessary to study the importance of professionalism of teachers, especially teachers of Islamic Religious Education. The purpose of this study is to: (1) Describe the professionalism of Islamic Religious Education Teachers in SMP Negeri 1 Ngantang Malang. (2) Describe the way of Islamic Education teachers in improving students' learning outcomes SMP Negeri 1 Ngantang Malang. (3) Describe the urgency of professionalism of Islamic Religious Education Teachers in improving student learning outcomes in SMP Negeri 1 Ngantang Malang. In this study the authors use a qualitative approach type field research, ie research conducted directly in the field or on respondents to obtain data in accordance with needs. Data collection technique used (1) Observation, (2) Interview, (3) Documentation. Informants are determined through Purposive Sampling. The data analysis used qualitative descriptive. To check the validity of the data, the Researcher used the extension of the Researcher's presence, observational persistence and triangulation. The results showed that (1) the professionalism of Islamic education teachers in SMP Negeri 1 Ngantang Malang when viewed through 4 professional aspects of pedagogic competence, personality, social, and leadership already have a good enough ability, but viewed from professional competence through the background education can be said to be lacking, this is because of the incompatibility of educational background with the subjects he received. (2) The way in which the teacher of education in improving student learning outcomes is by conditioning the environment that supports the teaching and learning process, giving motivation and using various methods. (3) The Urgency of Islamic Religious Education Professionalism in improving student learning outcomes is the teacher who has aspects good professionalism is proven to improve student learning outcomes in all aspects of assessment (cognitive, affective, and psychomotor). While less professional teachers can only improve learning outcomes through cognitive aspects ABSTRAK Melalui program sertifikasi guru, pemerintah sedang berusaha untuk menjadikan guru-guru di Indonesia sebagai guru yang profesional, guru profesional merupakan tuntutan yang harus dipenuhi dalam rangka meningkatkan kualitas pembelajaran di sekolah. Karena pentingnya profesionalime seorang guru maka diperlukan suatu penelitian tentang pentingnya profesionalisme guru khususnya guru Pendidikan Agama Islam. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk: (1) Mendeskripsikan profesionalisme Guru Pendidikan Agama Islam di SMP Negeri 1 Ngantang Malang. (2) Mendeskripsikan cara guru Pendidikan Agama Islam dalam meningkatkan hasil belajar siswa SMP Negeri 1 Ngantang Malang. (3) Mendeskripsikan urgensi profesionalisme Guru Pendidikan Agama Islam dalam meningkatkan hasil belajar siswa di SMP Negeri 1 Ngantang Malang.
