ABSTRACT

The phenomenon of Islamic people diversity shown the picture of anti-diversity and anti-freedom. It can?t be denied that Indonesia is the prularistic nation. Hundreds of ethnics and tribes with their unique cultures and believes are the proof of Indonesia as the pluralistic nation. The problem is how to keep that complexity, so that Indonesian people can live peacefully side by side without questioned the differences. But in fact so many intolerance cases in indonesia. The moslem should be more tolerant on facing thoese differences. This tolerance is needed to be developed on social live. It can be started from the educational institution, either formal or informal. One of the most effective in teaching the tasamuh and dakwah is the Islamic Boarding School. If the tasamuh attitude can be actualized well, it will realize Islam Rahmatan lil ?alamin.

This research?s goal are describing the base which is used in Tebuireng Islamic boarding School Jombang on applying consept of tasamuh education, describing the values of tasamuh taught in Tebuireng Islamic Boarding School, and describing the cultivation process of tasamuh education concept on realizing Islam Rahmatan lil?alamin in Tebuireng Jombang Islamic Boarding school.

This research uses qualitative approach with descriptive qualitative type. The key instrument is the researcher. Collection data technique in this research uses three methods, they are: observation, interview, and documentation. It is analyzed by reducting the data then displaying it, and drawing the conclusion.

The result of this research shown 1) The base of tasamuh education concept in Tebuireng is based on The Holy Qur?an, hadiths, and the essences of KH. Hasyim Asy?ari book. 2) The tasamuh values taught in Islamic boarding school are: not blaming the other, not accusing the other?s habit as heresy, not disbelieving another Moslem, respecting each other, appreciating the differences, and not forcing the will. 3) The process of cultiving the concept of tasamuh education in Tebuireng. School as the effort to realize Islam rahmatan lil alamin are: introducing five basic values of Tebuireng Islamic boarding school, one of them is tasamuh education, through the habituation in daily live. Through the problem posing education, introducing to another religions and cultures, students get the freedom education, students actively roled in the education process, using the unity language, Indonesian language.
