ABSTRACT Character Education is the important thing in repairing self and community. Islamic teacher has a big responsibility to prepare their Muslim students in having good character for their future. Nowadays, there are some action which is make in decreasing morality. Khoiru Ummah Islamic Elementary school be present among it to educate students to go to the good based on faith and god-fearing. The objectives of this research are: (1) to know the values of character build by Islamic teacher in Khoiru Ummah Islamic Elementary school, Sawojajar, Malang. (2) to know the strategy of Islamic teacher in building student?s character in Khoiru Ummah Islamic Elementary school, Sawojajar, Malang. Researcher use field research method to reach the objectives by qualitative approach. in collect the data, researcher use some methods that are observation, documentation, and interview. Data analyze which is used by researcher are triangulation system for test the validity of data. The data from observation, interview, and documentation result which has reduced to get the valid conclusion. The result of research shows that: (1) the values of character build by the teacher up in Khoiru Ummah Islamic Elementary school, Sawojajar, Malang are a) Religius. b) cleanliness and daintiness. c) honesty. d) discipline. e) responsible. f) care. g) curiosity. h) confidence. (2) the strategy of Islamic teacher in building student?s character are; First, by modeling. Teacher give an example and direct allurement to students. Second, discipline accustom. Teacher maintain the discipline by giving warning even sanction for them who break the school?s law. Third, habbituality. It?s can do by many programs such us; pray dhuha in congregation, read Quran before starting teaching and learning activity, berjamaah, membaca al-Qur?an sebelum pelajaran dimulai, muroja?ah of recitation, pray dhuhur in congregation, and tausiyah after dhuhur praying. Fourth, by creating conducive situation. Class separation both of man and woman, reading quran used Ummi Method, and tahfidz (recitation) and also cooperate with the parents. Five, integration and internalization the values of character to subject of lesson, and its refer to Islamic Education Material ABSTRAK Pendidikan karakter adalah hal yang sangat penting untuk perbaikan pribadi maupun masyarakat. Guru Pendidikan Agama Islam memiliki tanggungjawab yang besar dalam menyiapkan anak-anak kaum muslimin agar mereka memiliki bekal yang cukup untuk kehidupan di masa depan. Ditengah krisis moralitas yang melanda negeri ini SD Islam Khoiru Ummah hadir sebagai wadah untuk mendidik generasi yang bermoral berlandaskan iman dan taqwa. Adapun tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk: (1) mengetahui nilai-nilai karakter yang ditanamkan oleh guru PAI di SD Islam Khoiru Ummah Sawojajar Malang. (2) Mengetahui strategi guru PAI dalam membentuk karakter siswa di SD Islam Khoiru Ummah Sawojajar Malang. Untuk mencapai tujuan tersebut, peneliti menggunakan metode penelitian lapangan (field research) dengan pendekatan kualitatif. Dalam mengumpulkan data, peneliti menggunakan beberapa metode yaitu, metode observasi, dokumentasi, dan wawancara/interview. Metode analisis data yang digunakan adalah dengan system triangulasi data untuk menguji keabsahan data yang diperoleh. Data yang diperoleh adalah data dari hasil observasi, interview dan dokumentasi yang direduksi atau diolah untuk mendapatkan kesimpulan yang valid. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa: (1) nilai karakter yang ditanamkan oleh guru PAI di SD Islam Khoiru Ummah Sawojajar Malang adalah sebagai berikut: a) Religius. b) Kebersihan dan kerapian. c) Kejujuran. d) Kedisiplinan. e) Tanggungjawab. f) Kepedulian. g) Rasa ingin tahu. h) Rasa percaya diri. (2) Strategi guru PAI dalam pembentukan karakter siswa dengan cara; Pertama, dengan keteladanan. Guru memberi contoh dan ajakan langsung kepada siswa. Kedua, penanaman kedisplinan. Guru menegakkan kedisiplinan dengan memberi teguran bahkan sanksi b} }
