ABSTRACT


Islamic Religious Education Learning (PAI) is one of the multicultural-based learning model of Islamic education is linked to the diversity that exists, whether it is the diversity of religion, ethnicity, language and so forth. SMAN 1 and SMAN 4 Malang are the school that has students diversity. With these differences, students have the choice to live together peacefully, although with backgrounds different. This can be achieved by Islamic Education based multicultural.

The focus of this study included: 1) how Islamic Education learning materials based multicultural in SMAN 1 and SMAN 4 Malang ?; 2) how learning method of Islamic Education based multicultural in SMAN 1 and SMAN 4 Malang ?; 3) what are the implications of Islamic education learning based multicultural in SMA 1 and SMA Negeri 4 Malang to shape the tolerance of students ?.

While the purpose of this study was to describe and analyze on: 1) the Islamic Education learning materials based multicultural in SMAN 1 and SMAN 4 Malang; 2) learning method of Islamic Education based multicultural in SMAN 1 and SMAN 4 Malang; 3) the implications of Islamic education learning based multicultural in SMA 1 and SMA Negeri 4 Malang to shape the tolerance of students.

This research was qualitative descriptive with using traditional approaches of multi-site research type. While research techniques used: observation, interviews and documentation. Data analysis techniques used the reduction of data, display data and conclusion. While the extension of the validity of the data used techniques of participation, persistence observation and triangulation techniques.

The results of this research were: 1) SMAN 1 and SMAN 4 Malang in Islamic Education material selection based multicultural based on curriculum 2013; 2) the method used in Islamic Education learning based multicultural in SMA Negeri 1 Malang was the method of socio drama, while the methods used in SMA Negeri 4 Malang was the case study method; 3) student of SMAN 1 and SMAN 4 Malang had shown tolerance.The  tolerance were: a) love another; b) cooperate; c) value the friendship; d) opened and friendly; e) honest; f) respect for others; g) negotiate; h) peace; i) avoid violence; j) praised the courage; k) knowing that every human being had dignity.
