ABSTRACT Developing the natural science learning materials based on energy material practice and its changes is one of the means to help in understanding and training students' critical thinking in natural science learning of 4th Grade Students at Islamic or Public Elementary School. The need for interesting teaching materials as well as providing simple and simple practical activities for learners is one of the reasons behind the research development. The purposes of the research are to (1) explain the product of natural science learning materials based on energy material practice and its changes in training the critical thinking ability, (2) explain the level of attractiveness of natural science learning materials based on practice, (3) explain the critical thinking ability of the students through the use of natural science learning materials based on practice. The research method used research and development (R & D). The development model used referred to the development model of ADDIE which has 5 stages in its development procedure, namely design, development, implementation, and evaluation. The research design used one-group pretest-posttest design, with before-after experiments. The research was conducted at Public Elementary School of Karangbesuki 4 of Malang with the test subject of 24 students of class IV. Instruments were used to obtain data using observation, interviews, questionnaires, and tests of achievement of critical thinking exercises. The results of the development consisted of natural science learning materials based on energy material practice and its changes that are arranged based on critical thinking indicators. (1) Results of research and development met the very valid criteria with result of experiment of material expert reached validity level of 96%, design expert reached 92%, and natural science learning expert of class IV reached 96%. (2) The results of experiment in knowing the level of attractiveness of teaching materials of natural science based on practice of fourth grade students of Public Elementary School of Karangbesuki 4 of Malang were gotten percentage of 86,16%. (3) The level of critical thinking became more improved, if it was seen from the average pre-test value of 49.8, and the average post-test value of 82.91, it can be said that the effective teaching materials to use it for students. Result of t-test with significance level of 0,05 was obtained result t count 4,52171> t table 1,71387 which meant that t count> t table. These results proved that there were differences in the level of critical thinking of students before and after using natural science learning materials based on practice of the energy materials and its changes.
