ABSTRACT Today, Indonesian people faced many challenges in achieving the education goals which is multidimensional crisis in the field of moral and norms. Character education becomes a solution of moral and character problem, which is we found it often have encountered in Islamic Boarding school. The Center of Ma?had Al-Jami?ah Al-?Aly which is under the management of UIN Malang, has carried out the curriculum development based on character education. This study aims to determine the foundation of curriculum developmet of ma?had al-jami?ah based on character education, how the model of curriculum development of ma?had al-jami?ah based on character education, and the supporting and inhibiting factor in curriculum development of ma?had al?jami?ah based on character education in the center of Ma?had Al?Jami?ah Al?Aly UIN Malang. This study uses a descriptive qualitative research approach with case study type. The mthod of data collection used field observation, interviews, and documentation studies. Data analysis techniques include data collection, data reduction, data presentation, verification or conclusion drawing. To check the validity of the data the researcher used persistence of observation, triangulation, member check, and reference adequacy. The result of this study has conclude that (1) The foundation of curriculum development of ma?had jami?ah based on caharacter education at the center of Ma?had Al?Jami?ah Sunan Ampel Al?Aly UIN Malang has three principle, namely religiousity, philoshopy, psychology and technology. (2) The model of curriculum develpoment of Ma?had Al?jami?ah based on characer education at the center of Ma?had Al?Jami?ah UIN Malang is the Administration Model which is curriculum development carried out by the educators directly wih involving several influential fgures in ma?had. (3) The supporting factors in the curriculum development of ma?had al-jami?ah based on character education at the center of Ma?had Al?Jami?ah Sunan Ampel al?Aly UIN Malang are: There is integration between Ma'had and the University management, reliable human resources or qualified educators (qualifications), means and adequate infrastructure, the creation religious environment (bi'ah Islamiyah). The inhibiting factors in curriculum development of ma?had jami?ah based on character education at the Center for Ma'had al-Jamiah Sunan Ampel al-'Aly UIN Malang is: (a) Some of the mu'allim or mu'allimah are late, there are differences in the background of student, and monotonous teaching methods ABSTRAK Saat ini bangsa Indonesia banyak mengalami tantangan dalam mencapai tujuan pendidikan yaitu adanya krisis multidimensi, yang mana Indoneisa mengalami krisis akhlak dan moral. Pendidikan karakter hadir sebagai solusi dari masalah moralitas dan karakter, yang mana pendidikan karakter biasanya sering kita jumpai di pesantren. Salah satunya adalah pesantren kampus yang ada di bawah naungan Universitas Islam Negeri Malang, yaitu Pusat ma?had al-Jami?ah UIN Malang telah melakukan pengembangan kurikulum berbasis pendidikan karakter.
