ABSTRACT Some conflicts and violence have colored this country journey, from social, religious, ethnic, and political conflicts have occurred in Indonesia, which involves many parties, including learners. Islamic education learning is expected to provide solutions, to enable mutual respect, mutual value, to improve feel of togetherness, without disturbing each other's faith. Efforts to maintain harmony and a culture of tolerance inter-religious through Islamic education learning should be implemented and cultivated. This study was aimed to describe or explaint wofocuses of research, they were (1) How was Islamic education learning implementation steps in fostering a culture of inter-religious tolerance at SMA Nasional and SMA Taman Madya Malang? (2) How was the impact of the implementation of Islamic education learning in fostering a culture of inter-religious tolerance at SMA Nasional and SMA Taman Madya Malang? This research took two settings of research; SMA Nasional and SMA Taman Madya Malang. This research used descriptive qualitative approach with type of multi-sites study. Data collection was done by observation, interview, and documentation. While for the analysis technique was done by reducing the data, presenting the data and drawing conclusions. The checking technique of data validity was done by extending observation, observational persistence and triangulation. The findings showed that: 1) Implementation steps of Islamic education learning in fostering a culture of inter-religious tolerance in both institutions, namely: a) Morning prayer; b) Embedding knowledge not to hate each other among religious people; c) Togetherness; d) Activities that improve culture of tolerance; e) Being universal and indiscriminate students; f) Upholding respect and value; g) Allocating opportunities to all students to get religious learning in accordance with their beliefs; h) Having friday prayer and women class; i) Extracurricular activities and memorial day of Islam. 2) The impacts of implementing Islamic education learning in fostering a culture of inter-religious tolerance in both institutions include: a) Having comfortable and conducive learning environment; b) School activities run well and having high tolerance; c) Mutual culture respect and value were created and differences could be received; d) Realization of harmony of religious life in differences; e) Implementation of worship is well done; f) Conflict and disintegration were avoided; g) Non-Muslim students convert to Islam ABSTRAK Beberapa konflik dan kekerasan telah mewarnai perjalanan negeri ini, mulai konflik sosial, agama, etnis, maupun politik pernah terjadi di Indonesia yang di dalamnya melibatkan banyak pihak termasuk peserta didik.
