ABSTRACT

The author of the novel "??? ??????? ??? ??????? ?????? ???????", Sheikh Nadim al-Jisr, said that "philosophy is like ocean, but not the ordinary ocean. Those who sailed it will encounter danger and perversity if only limited to the edges. Instead, they will get security and faith when beyond it to the middle or to the deepest ". Besides, as said by the philosopher, Pascal, that "understanding a bit about the philosophy just going to keep him away from God. But a deep understanding will lead to god ". It gives an understanding that distinguishes or assumes that philosophy and religion cannot band together, as the conservatives and fundamentalists believed, is not true. They assumed that the philosophy and religion cannot be unit, logic and revelation cannot be met. In addition, they also assume that philosophy will only be delivered to atheism. Because of these problems, Sheikh Nadim al-Jisr expressed an objection through a literary work, in a novel that is so stunning.

The researcher is interested to uncover the author?s view of the compatibility between philosophy and religion through a literary fiction. The researcher draws the research problem, how the convergence or meeting point between philosophy and religious concepts about proving the existence of God in the novel "??? ??????? ??? ??????? ?????? ???????" by Nadim Shaikh Al Jisr? And the objectives of the study, is to determine the convergence or meeting point between the concept of philosophy and religion on proving the existence of God in the novel.

Based on the objectives problem, the method used by the researchers is descriptive method, the research use descriptive method. The method based on the concrete data about certain phenomena and events, by exposing an overview and understanding. Therefore, researcher is developed several concepts and gather some facts, without using a numbering technique and testing of a hypothesis.

The data collection technique is the library technique. It is retrieving the necessary data from the books from the library, which in this study, the data is taken from the novel "??? ??????? ??? ??????? ?????? ???????" by Nadim Shaikh Al Jisr. The data analysis is a hermeneutic perspective method of Hans Georg Gadamer, hermeneutic dialectic. A method, is explores the meaning of subjective understanding arising from pre-understanding of the reader. In addition, this method rejects the objective meaning that according to Gadamer is impossible to be produced. This is because there is a gap between the background of the reader and the text itself.
