ABSTRACT

Gramsci?s hegemony theory is initially emerged by dichotomy dialect of Italia traditional political thoughts about the existence of force and consent. Then, it develops and utilized by more powerful country to dominate subordinate countries. Commonly, more powerful country cultivates its ideology into subordinate one in order to make it bend to superstructure countries. Accordingly, Gramsci?s theory of hegemony was utilized to analyze literary works. Hence, the researcher is interested to conduct research on novel because it is rarely researched by other researchers before. It drew world attention because the novel discusses African history, a great work of Kailani Najib, entitled Black Shadows.        

The researcher formulates two research problems. Firstly, it is about the kind of hegemony in the novel, secondly, about factors which motivate hegemony. They are formulated in order to know the type of hegemony and the factors which motivate it exists inside of the novel. 

This research utilizes library research method by employing the novel as data source, collected by documentary method and analyzed by content analysis. 

The result shows that cardinals attempt to dominate Ethiopia and want to establish Ethiopia kingdom in order to alter the area become Christian area. Accordingly, there is a strong counterattack from Michel from Ethiopia emperor against cardinal?s hegemony. On the contrary, Michel and Iyasu emperor are fallen by hegemonic politic which is done by Helei Sellease, Michel?s son-in-law. Further, religionists reach supreme by their ideology while Tafari (Helley Sallasy) is successfully reaches the supreme by domination. Finally, Ethiopia kingdom is fallen because of stunted thoughts of religionists and a domination

ABSTRAK

Konsep hegemoni Gramsci berawal dari dialektiktis dikotomi pemikiran politik tradisional Italia tentang adanya keakutan (force) dan persetujuan (consent). Kemudian teori hegemoni Gramsci mulai berkembang dan digunakan oleh negara negara besar untuk mendomimasi negara negara subordinat. Biasanya negara negara besar menanamkan ideologi pada negara subordinat supaya tunduk kepada negara negara suprastruktur. Dengan berkembangnya zaman teori hegemoni Gramsci mulai digunakan untuk menganalisa sebuah kajian kajian sastra. Dalam kesempatan ini peneliti ingin meneliti sebuah novel yang jarang dikaji oleh kebanyakan orang. Menurut peneliti novel ini sangat bagus kalau dikaji dengan mengunakan teori hegemoni Gramsci karena novel ini menjadi perhatian dunia tentang sejarah di afrika . Novel ini  karya najib kailani yang berjudul bayang bayang hitam.

Peneliti menghadirkan dua masalah, pertama seperti apa bentuk bentuk hegemoni yang ada dalam novel bayang bayang hitam. Kedua faktor faktor apa sajakah yang menyebabkan munculnya hegemoni dalam novel bayang bayang hitam. Dengan tujuan mengetahui bentuk bentuk hegemoni dan faktor faktor yang ada dalam novel bayang bayang hitam.  

Data yang diperoleh menggunakan kajian pustaka dan  megunakan sumber data novel bayang bayang hitam kemudian dikumpulakan dengan metode dokementer dan dianalis dengan analisis konten. 

Adapun hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukan seorang cardinal berusaha menguasai wilayah Ethiopia dan ingin menjadikan kerajaan Ethiopia menjadi wilayah keristen seluruhnya.dan disini ada sebuah perlawanan dari seorang mechel dan kaisar Ethiopia terhadap hegemoni yang dilakukan oleh kardinal. Sebal}
