ABSTRACT

Literature can be viewed as a symptom social. Literature written in a certain period of time is directly related to the norms and customs of that era, and a literary must be related to the circumstances of a particular community. To be able to assess the social that relates to the creation, it takes sociological theory of literature. Sociological theory of literature Alan Singe wood said in concept, literature as a reflection of the times and he criticized the sociological theory of literature always discuss class distinctions in society, such as the theory of Mark. Not all conflict society of class differences. Here the theory of Alan Singewood only as a bridge for the title of his research is the social conflict in researching requires theories of conflict. On this occasion the researchers wanted to examine a novel that is rarely studied by most people. According to research novel is very good if studied with theory Alan Singewood assisted with the theory of conflict because the novel is the world's attention on the incident to the fourth century Christians in the Middle East. The novel is the creation of Yusuf Zaidan entitled Azazil.

Researchers presented two problems. Firstly what is the picture of social conflict in the novel Azazil like? Secondly what are the causes of social conflict in the novel Azazil?Purposed to know the description of social conflict and the causes of social conflict in the novel Azazil.

Data obtained using literature review and using data sources Novel Azazil then collected by documentary method and analyzed by content analysis.

The results of this research show the Orthodox faith is the result of Council Nicaea. This council stated otherwise in accordance with the teachings of the Orthodox heretical or infidel. War began to develop at that time, violence is everywhere, from the murder of the food and does not stop there and even fellow followers of Christ, and they kill each other for reasons of differences in interpretation. They did violence in the name of religion. The results of the Council Nicaea is faith Orthodox, faith Orthodox believed by Christians in Alexandria were not faith inthe truth, the Council mixed with politics in which the Emperor Constantine as the ruler at that time in favor of Alexandria because Emperor get bail economy every year from Alexandria

ABSTRAK

Sastra dapat dipandang sebagai suatu gejala sosial. Sastra yang ditulis pada suatu kurun waktu tertentu langsung berkaitan dengan norma-norma dan adat istiadat zaman itu, dan sebuah karya sastra pasti berkaitan dengan keadaan suatu masyarakat tertentu. Untuk dapat mengkaji bahwasanya sosial berkaitan dengan  karya maka dibutuhkan teori sosiologi sastra. Teori sosiologi sastra alan singewood mengatakan dalam konsepnya, sastra sebagai cerminan zaman dan beliau juga mengkritik  teori sosiologi sastra yang selalu membahas perbedaan kelas didalam masyarakat,seperti teori mark. Tidak semua konflik masyarakat itu tentang perbedaan kelas. Disini teori alan singewood hanya menjembatani karena judul penelitiannya ialah konflik sosial maka di dalam meneliti membutuhkan teori-teori konflik.
