ABSTRACT The learning process can?t be separated from the role of media, because media is an integral part of learning in the learning process. Therefore, learning media is considered very important, as well as in learning the Arabic, especially in the Arabic vocabulary (Mufrodat). Mufrodat is one important element in the Arabic, a person gets the ability to speak when his mufradat also increased. Mufradat learning problems at State Islamic Junior High School Malang II is often forgotten mufrodat students who have been taught by teachers, students simply memorize and remember when taught in the classroom alone, finished his mufrodat they forgot what he had received at the previous meeting. The learning media crossword is a brain teaser that is "fun" and "learning" so as to give effect to recall or refresh your memory so that the work function of the brain re-optimal. Besides crossword also serves to sharpen cognitive abilities and enrich their knowledge. So appropriate for students. From the above study, the researchers found that the formulation of the problem in this research are: 1). How Application Media Crossword to Increase Mastery Mufrodat Seventh Grade Students of State Islamic Junior High School Malang II?. 2). How Effective Use of Media Crossword to Increase Mastery Mufrodat Seventh Grade Students of State Islamic Junior High School Malang II?. The method used in this study is an experimental research, which consisted of two groups. First group control class, second group experiment class. While the approach in the study of quantitative research. The results obtained from this study that the application of crossword puzzles to improve the control of mufrodat researchers used in learning mufrodat class VII E, the teacher explained to students about media crossword puzzles, teachers share a matter in accordance with the number of students, teachers give time to each students to answer the questions that exist, the pupil who has the most correct answers is the winner. The t table is: 2.981 greater than the level of significance 5% = 1,674 and greater than 1% = 2.400 then the research hypothesis is accepted, the result is that "H1" is received and that the use of Media Crossword to Increase Mastery Mufradat Seventh Grade Students of State Islamic Junior High School Malang II, is considered effective. ABSTRAK Proses belajar mengajar tidak bisa lepas dari peran media pembelajaran, sebab media pembelajaran merupakan suatu bagian integral dalam proses belajar mengajar. Oleh karena itu, media pembelajaran dianggap sangat penting, begitu juga dengan pembelajaran bahasa Arab, khususnya pada penguasaan kosakata Arab (mufrodat). Mufradat adalah salah unsur penting di dalam bahasa Arab, seseorang bertambah kemampuan dalam berbahasa ketika bertambah pula mufradatnya. Permasalahan pembelajaran mufradat di Madrasah Tsanawiyah Negeri Malang II adalah siswa sering lupa dengan mufrodat yang telah diajarkan oleh guru, siswa hanya ingat dan hafal ketika diajarkan di kelas saja, selesainya mereka lupa dengan mufrodat apa yang telah mereka terima pada pertemuan sebelumnya. Adapun media pembelajaran teka-teki silang adalah sebuah permainan asah ot} }
