She used comic as media of her teaching in reading skill. Her students were interested to read the comic, but they cannot really understand about the meaning of some words in it. In her opinion, it happened because of their receptive vocabulary mastery was not really high. Ironically, when the writer made an evaluation to check the reading ability of the tenth grade students’ ability of MAN 01 Kudus, their score is still enough. The mean of their sore is 7, 25. So, she wants to recheck whether there is correlation between receptive vocabulary mastery and reading comic ability of tenth grade students of MAN 01 Kudus. The objective of this research is: to find out whether there is a significant correlation between receptive vocabulary mastery and reading comic ability of the tenth grade students of MAN 01 Kudus in academic year 2011/2012. The method used in this research is correlation design. The population is all of tenth grade students of MAN 1 Kudus in academic year 2011/2012 and the sample is X9 class. The writer gave two tests. The first is test to know the receptive vocabulary mastery and the second is test to know the reading comic ability. The result of those tests was used to know the correlation between receptive vocabulary mastery and reading comic ability. The writer analyzed the data by using Correlation Product Moment Formula. The result of this research shows that there is a significant correlation between students’ receptive vocabulary mastery and reading comic ability of the tenth grade students of MAN I Kudus in the academic year 2011/2012. It based on the result of the calculation which has explained in Appendix 9 that rt(Coefficient Correlation) is 0.96. It is categorized perfect correlation. Based on the result above, the writer would like to give suggestion as; (1) Students should develop their receptive vocabulary by using reading comic activity, (2) the writer suggest for all of English teachers to give more effort to read many kinds of texts to develop their students receptive vocabularies and (3) further researchers are suggested to develop this research to be more specific or increase this research in other field of the research. } }
