Now, we can find many products of translation. They are novels, newspapers, text book of university and movies that translate into Indonesian. Translation of foreign dialogue of a movie or TV program, usually displayed at the bottom of the screen, it is called the subtitle. The objectives of the study are To identify the type of translation equivalences made on the translation of Indonesian subtitle of Captain America movie and also To find out the strategies used by the translator to tackle the non TL equivalence words in the translation of the Indonesian subtitle of Captain America movie. The writer used the descriptive research method in this study to acquire the objectives of the study. The data of this research are the types of translation equivalences and the strategies to tackle the non TL equivalence words in the translation of the Indonesian subtitle of Captain America movie. The data source of this research is the English-Indonesian subtitle of Captain America movie taken from the original VCD of Captain America movie. In order to obtain both English and Indonesian subtitle, The writer watched Captain America movie and then wrote the Indonesian subtitle of the movie which is displayed at the bottom of the screen. And the writer also wrote the English dialogue of the movie. Based on the analysis of the data compared with the others, the most common types of translation equivalence are word level. It occurs when the translator cannot use suitable word in translating the target language. But, the translator is quite understand about word level. There is phrase level after word level which occur when the translator has lack of understnading in idiom or sentences. The last types is grammatical level. Next, is about the strategies that used by the translator. The strategies are Translation by more general word (super ordinate), Translation by a more neutral/less expressive word, Translation by cultural substitution, Translation using a loan word or word plus explanation, Translation by paraphrase using a relate word, Translation by paraphrase using unrelated words, Translation by omission. From that analysis, the writer suggest that the translator must pay more attention to naturalness, clarity and accuracy aspect at word, phrase and grammatical level. And the translator of subtitle especially are suggested that they can be more careful in translating the types of translating the types of translation equivalence, so the readers will get the message or information correctly } }
