		abstract={This research examines  the codes switched in Comedy Talk Show 
ONLINE Broadcast Live on Trans TV June 16, 2010. Specifically, the research is 
aimed at finding out the types of code switching performed by the participants  of 
the comedy talk show ONLINE, and  explaining the reasons for the participants to 
switch the codes. The data of the study were taken by recording the talk show, 
which were then analyzed on the bases of turn taking theory. The results show that 
there are thirty six (36)  code switchings covering the inter-sentential code 
switching and intra-sentential code switching twenty two  (32) of which are codes 
switching of Indonesian  -  English, Two (2) code switching of Indonesian  -Javanese, One (1) code switching of Indonesian  ?  Sundanese,  One (1) code 
switching of Indonesian  ?  Arabic. The reasons which drive the participants to 
switch codes are: to ease communication (33,3%), to capture attention (19,4%), to 
identify a particular group (16,7%), to communicate effectively (16,7%), to 
reiterate point (11,1%), and to negotiate with a greater authority (2,8%)}
