In writing this research, the researcher will focus on six types of figures of speech, namely metaphor, symbol, irony, hyperbole, personification and simile. This study aims to determine the figurative language found and used in Hozier's song in showing the culture of oppression of homosexuals which is reflected in each meaning in the lyrics found. Figurative language is usually used to say something figuratively or one of the language styles that have other than the literal meaning of the word and is often used and found in poetry. For writers this is very useful to make the language they use much more beautiful to listen to. Figurative language also cannot be expressed in other ways when conveying the nuances of the meaning used.} }
