		abstract={The estuary of Surabaya East Coast has been polluted by heavy metals including copper (Cu). The heavy metal pollution in Surabaya East Coast should be dreaded, because it has given the indication of heavy metals poisoned in the fisherman community adjacent to Surabaya East Coast. Surabaya East Coast is covered by the mangrove vegetation dominated by api-api tree (Avicennia marina) which potential as bioaccumulator of heavy metal that polluted the waters of Surabaya East Coast. This research intended to perceive the heavy metal contents in the sediment an in the root of api-api tree (Avicennia marina) that found at the mouth of Wonorejo River. The heavy metal contents in the root of api-api tree (Avicennia marina) and sediment were inquired by using the Spectro pharo. The heavy metal examination with Spectro pharo showed that the mean content of copper in sediment at the mouth of Wonorejo River is 3,186 mg/lt. The mean content of copper in the root of api-api tree (Avicennia marina) at the mouth Of Wonorejo River is 5,602 mg/lt. The indicate that api-api tree (Avicennia marina) have ability for bioaccumulator of copper (Cu) and agree with a metal contents in the sediment.}
