Bay leaves (Syzygium polyanthum (Wight) Walp) contains flavonoid compounds using as anti-inflammatory. Topical preparations were chosen because they minimize unwanted side effects. This study aims to determine the ethanol extract can be formulated in the form of a gel, compared anti-inflammatory gel activity and physical stability of the gel. Bay leaves were extracted by merasi method using 70% ethanol as solvent. The ethanolic extract of bay leaves was formulated in gel preparations with concentrations of 1.5%, 2.5%, 4%. The base and the three formulas were tested for accelerated stability for 3 cycles at a temperature of 4?C and 40?C, the tests included organoleptic, homogeneity, spreadability, adhesion, pH, viscosity. Anti-inflammatory test by measuring the volume of the rat's paws. The results of the data obtained were analyzed statistically One Way Anova. The results of the anti-inflammatory test of the ethanol extract of the bay leaves showed that the three concentrations had anti-inflammatory properties on the volume of the soles induced by carrageenan. %PI produced for each concentration was 27.96%±3.70 (1.5%), 23.27%±5.62 (2.5%), 20.81%±2.02 (4%). One Way Anova statistical results p > 0.05 where there was no significant difference between Formula 1, 2 and 3. The statistical results of One Way Anova dispersion showed that there was no significant difference between the Basis and the three Formulas (p > 0.05). And the statistical results of One Way Anova stickiness p < 0.05 where there is a significant difference.} }
