Nicotine, the chemical substance contained in nicotine cigarettes, is addictive (addiction). The purpose of this study was to determine the nicotine content in cigar cigarettes. The allowed nicotine levels in a cigarette according to Government Regulation no. 38 of 2000 concerning the safety of cigarettes for health, namely 1.5 mg/stem. The sample used was a sample of cigar cigarettes taken from Gayam Village, Sukoharjo, Central Java. Quantitative analysis was determined by UV spectrophotometric method. From the results of the study with a wavelength (A) of 260 nm, the correlation coefficient (r) was 0.9963. The results showed that the average nicotine levels in A, B, and C cigars were 1.8842 mg/stem, 1.1068 mg/stem, and 2.0745 mg/stem. This shows that the samples A, B, and C do not meet the requirements permitted by Government Regulation no. 38 of 2000 concerning the safety of cigarettes for health, namely 1.5 mg/stem} }
