@thesis{thesis, author={Nasia Ierna Sania Sarie}, title ={ECONOMIC IMPACT ASSESSMENT OF AGRICULTURAL PROGRAM ON MAIZE PRODUCTION IN BANTEN PROVINCE: A Case on Farmer Field School of Integrated Crop Management Program}, year={2018}, url={}, abstract={Maize is the second most important food crop after rice and one of the strategic commodities in Indonesia. However, the domestic supply of maize has been unable to meet its high demand due to demand rising faster than supply. One of the government’s efforts to enhance the maize production and achieve maize self-sufficiency is the implementation of the Farmer Field School of Integrated Crop Management (ICM-FFS) program. In Banten, the ICM-FFS program in maize production was implemented between 2008 and 2014. The policy analysis matrix (PAM) framework was employed to assess the impact of ICM-FFS on maize production, comparative and competitive advantage to produce maize, and the farmer’s income in Banten Province. The results show that ICM-FFS farms were able to increase the farmer’s income by 77.03% and social welfare by 44.48% compared to non-ICM-FFS farms. Moreover, the study implies that this program has enhanced the competitive and comparative advantage to produce maize in the Banten Province. This program expresses that the government protection of maize production nearly comes from the subsidy on seeds and fertilizers. Finally, these findings suggest policy recommendations to improve the future strategies in maize production assistance. The government should pay attention to the arrangement of competitive input and output markets, sustain and enhance technical assistance to improve maize quality and productivity, and be more concerned for this commodity than it is at present.} }
