The research used a descriptive qualitative and quantitative method. The data of this research are the words and sentences in scientific articles. The data collected by reading every single words and sentences in the journals, and categorized the collected data based on the types of grammatical and lexical cohesion of Halliday and Hasan. The writer found four types of grammatical cohesion and one type of lexical cohesion used in the text of journals: reference, substitution, ellipsis, and conjunction while lexical cohesion, reiteration: repetition, synonym, and superordinate. Based on the findings, it can be concluded that there are four types of grammatical cohesion and two types of lexical cohesion in the Journal of English Langugae and teaching. The most apears from both grammatical and lexical cohesion is reference with twenty eight form in the scientific articles.
