ABSTRACT
Water is the very life of material needed for the survival of living things. In line with the
advancement and improvement of standard of living, then the amount of water supply is always
increasing for each time. and problems to be faced right now this is the way water treatment due to the
ever increasing numbers of air pollution, both from domestic sewage, factory, industry, and agricultural
wastes. At a time when oxygen levels are low, the nitrogen will move into ammonia, whereas at the time
of high levels of oxygen, nitrogen will move into nitrate. Ammonia and nitrate nitrogen in source waterThe
levels of nitrates in waters that are contaminated not usually taller than ammonium. Tributary of the
Durian Comet Kingdom Banjarbaru is water flowing in the place of the village of Comet Subdistrict of
North long beach. But it is not yet known whether the tributary of the Durian is safe if used in the
community for the purposes of the day-today. The purpose of this research is to know the levels of nitrate
contained in creeks in the area. The population in this research is the water in tributaries of the Durian Km
35 Wards of North long beach District and Comet samples is a tributary of the water taken in waste
disposal, 50 m before and after disposal of wasteKeywords: ice cubes, Eschericia coli, storage
temperature. Type of this research is a descriptive survey and sampling technique was purposive
sampling and methods used are Nessler. Of the 4 samples that tested the levels of nitrates, nitrate levels
contains 3 samples are approaching a threshold. Based on the results of the study it can be concluded
that there is pollution in the tributaries of the Durian Km 35. The threshold levels of nitrates is governed by
regulations No. 82 of 2001 PP raw water quality. To that end, the need for periodic advisories from
relevant agencies to people around in order to preserve the health of its environment to achieve better
health degrees.

ABSTRAK
Air merupakan materi essensial yang sangat dibutuhkan bagi kelangsungan hidup makhluk hidup.
Sejalan dengan kemajuan dan peningkatan taraf kehidupan, maka jumlah penyediaan air selalu
meningkat untuk setiap saatnya, dan masalah yang harus dihadapi sekarang ini adalah cara pengolahan
air karena semakin meningkatnya angka pencemaran terhadap air, baik dari limbah rumah tangga,
pabrik, industri, dan limbah pertanian. Pada saat kadar oksigen rendah, nitrogen akan bergerak menuju
amonia, sedangkan pada saat kadar oksigen tinggi, nitrogen akan bergerak menuju nitrat. Amonia dan
nitrat menjadi sumber nitrogen utama di perairan. Kadar nitrat di perairan yang tidak tercemar biasanya
lebih tinggi dari amonium. Anak sungai Durian Komet Raya Banjarbaru adalah air yang mengalir di
kawasan Banjarbaru Kelurahan Komet Kecamatan Banjarbaru Utara. Namun belum diketahui apakah
anak sungai Durian aman jika dipergunakan masyarakat untuk keperluan sehari - hari. Tujuan dalam
penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui kadar nitrat yang terkandung dalam anak sungai di daerah
tersebut. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah air di anak sungai Durian Km 35 Kelurahan Komet
Kecamatan Banjarbaru Utara dan sampel adalah air anak sungai yang diambil di pembuangan limbah, 50
m sebelum dan sesudah pembuangan limbah. Jenis penelitian ini adalah survey deskriptif dan teknik
pengambilan sampel adalah purposive sampling dan metode yang digunakan adalah Nessler. Dari 4
sampel yang di uji kadar nitrat, 3 sampel mengandung kadar nitrat yang mendekati ambang batas.
Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa terjadi pencemaran di anak sungai Durian Km 35.
Ambang batas kadar nitrat diatur menurut peraturan PP No 82 Tahun 2001 baku mutu air. Untuk itu,
perlu adanya himbauan secara berkala dari instansi terkait kepada masyrakat sekitar agar menjaga
kesehatan lingkungannya untuk mencapai derajat kesehatan yang lebih baik.}
