		abstract={The research analysis of mercury (Hg) in the preparation of bleaching creams on the market Makassar using Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometric method. The purpose of this study to determine levels of mercury (Hg) in the preparation of bleaching creams on the market town of Makassar and how the security preparations in accordance with the whitening cream PERMENKES and POM and the Islamic view regarding the use of mercury in the preparation of bleaching creams. In this study using five samples of whitening creams are drawn from several markets in the city of Makassar is obtained randomly. In this study using an atomic absorption spectrophotometer, the sample is dissolved by wet dekstruksi to remove organic substances prior to analysis using atomic absorption spectrophotometer. The results indicate the presence of metallic mercury (Hg) contained in the bleaching cream with each level of sample A which is 1.875%, sample B is 1.015%, sample C is 1.355%, sample D 1.395% and sample E is 0.695%. From these results it can be concluded that the presence of metallic mercury (Hg) contained in the sample indicates that the bleaching creams are used as the sample is not safe for use as contained in the Health Minister in 1998 and POM Decisions about cosmetics and according to Islamic point of view the use of mercury in the preparation of bleaching cream is prohibited because it can be bad for humans..}
