		abstract={The objective of the research was to analyze the influencing the factors of the level on income, the level of housewives? education, the number of family members, and the level of husband education to food expenditure in the research area and to analyze the level of household food security, viewed from the percentage of expenditures for food in households in the research area. The research area determined purposively by considering that Kecamatan Medan Denai had the biggest households in Medan. The samples taken by using Slovin method. The data analyzed by using multiple linear regression analysis and quantitative method by considering the percentage of food expenditure. The result of the research showed that, partially, the factors which influenced household expenditures were household income ,housewives? education and the number of family members, while husband? education did not have any influence. Also found that households at Kecamatan Medan Denai have any food security because 72% of them have a low segment or in small percentage of food expenditure.}
