One type of packaging that is widely used for the packaging of tomatoes is bamboo basket with newspaper and fresh banana leavesfillers. This study was aim to determine the changes in tomato fruit quality (weight loss, hardness, mechanical damage) andpackaging porosity on the level of mechanical damage of tomato fruit after transport simulation. Determining suitable tomato fruit packing filler material for reducing deterioration during ground transportation. The experimental design used was completely randomized design with 2 factors: fillers and simulation time. Parameters measured were mechanical damage, weight loss, hardness and porosity. Results from the study showed that the highest mechanical damage was 41,47% in the treatment of BGST3 (bamboo basket without filler at 5-hour simulation time). The greatest porosity was 72.28% with a bamboo basket packing without fillers. The highest percentage decrease in the weight of the highest was 1.5% in the treatment of BKST3 (newspaper bamboo basket filler with simulation of 5 hours). Thehardness texture of the tomatoes was 127.09 mm/g in treatment of BGST2 (bamboo basket without filler 3-hour simulation) located at the top.} }
