		abstract={The report from the World Health Organization revealed that cervical cancer is the most common cause of death in women who reaches 8.2 million cases per-year, and 85% of them occur in the developing countries. The high rate of the incidence of cervical cancer in Indonesia is caused by two factors: only 5% of women do screening of cervical cancer and their lack of having their reproductive health examined. The objective of the research was to analyze the influence of intrinsic and extrinsic motivation on housewives? action in IVA test at the working area of Bandar Khalifah Public Health Center.
The research used case-control design. It was done in the working area of Bandar Khalifah Public Health Center; the samples were 36 housewives in the case and control groups, taken by using purposive sampling technique. The data were processed by SPSS software and Chi-square test at the significance level of 95% and Multiple Logistic Regression Analysis with Odds ratio by estimating the outcome of risks.
The result of the research showed that there was the influence of intrinsic motivation and extrinsic motivation on housewives? action in having IVA examination. The intrinsic motivation which had the most significant influence was expectation at Odds ratio which was eight times more than midwives? intrinsic motivation with the indicator of expected with the high category in having IVA test. The most significant influence of extrinsic motivation was husband?s support at Odds ratio which was 11 times more than midwives? extrinsic motivation with the indicator of expectation with the high category in having IVA test. Husband?s support had the most dominant influence on housewives? action in having IVA test.
It is recommended that the management of Public Health Center provide counseling directly for the people in order to increase housewives? intrinsic motivation and extrinsic motivation. Men should support their wives in IVA test program to increase their wives? reproductive health since their support highly motivation their wives? participation in having IVA test.}
