For this importance this data were collected by transcript their utterances from the tower in Kualanamu International Airport and transcribing their utterances directly into written text. To discuss and explore the data, qualitative descriptive method was applied in this research. The result of this thesis shows that (1) the types of adjacency pairs, From the data analysis found there are 71 utterances that consist of adjacency pairs. From the findings, there are 21 offer ? acceptance and 7 request ? acceptance for adjacency pairs. It is used to make sure about the information shared whether it is accepted or not. The offer ? acceptance turn is also used by the participants to avoid misunderstanding while the communication is on going. (2) the functions of repetition use such as: First, registering/ indicating receipt or getting confirmation is mostly found in communication between the Pilot and the ATC/ GMC. Second, targetting next action is also used in request ? acceptance turn.} }
