		abstract={The purpose of the study was to determine the presence of bacterial panicle blight disease by B. glumae in several varieties of rice seeds in North Sumatera. This research was conducted at Plant Disease Laboratory, Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas of Sumatera Utara from March until   November 2017. This research was curried out by the sampling of rice  from rice seed center in Deli Serdang Regency, lawland of Sub District Percut Sei Tuan, P. Sidempuan city, Medan, Binjai and langkat Regency. The seed samples were extracted, isolated and purified then grown in semi-selective medium of Potato Peptone Glucose Agar (PPGA). The morphological characteristics of the bacterial strains were determined including bacterial colony?s and bacterial cell?s morphology, Gram staining, pigmentation, biochemical tests and pathogenic testing of onion bulbs in vitro. The results showed that based on morphological, biochemical, and in vitro tests on union bulbs, from 8 varieties of rice seeds in 6 locations in North Sumatera, obtained 3 isolates (CH BJ, IRC PRC, and IC PRC) were detected as B. glumae in the Binjai city and District Percut Sei Tuan.}
