This social conflict or friction causes the destruction of brotherly relations between one another. Departing from this concrete situation, the writer writes this thesis with the title the meaning of brotherhood in the rite of tu ju of passage according to the Gospel of Luke 17:1-6, with the aim of re-awakening the Lisbon community to the importance of brotherhood values in a social order and minimizing conflicts that happens in society. In writing this thesis, the author uses literature and field studies (observation). The main location of the research site is Lisabheto Hamlet. The people of Lisabheto are generally domiciled in the Lisabheto area. They call the land that they live is Begu land after the name of the ancestors who had inherited the land to them. In historical records, long before they occupied the Lisabheto area, their ancestors lived in two different places namely, Wuwu Pase and Nua Ia. In the course of time, they began to gradually move from the two areas to a new area which they called Lisabheto with the consideration that the area was very strategic, so that it was very possible for development and made it easier for people to continue their lives. In subsequent developments, the number of members of the Lisabheto Society continues to increase from year to year. This increase in population has given rise to various problems that occur in the community. These problems include; fights, quarrels, seizure of inheritance land, and so on. These problems result in the destruction of the values of brotherhood that exist in society because each conflict has a different power of influence and has a destructive value to people's lives. To overcome these problems, there is an awareness to re-live the cultural heritage of the ancestors. This is considered as a solution to overcome the problems that undermine the values of brotherhood. One of the cultural heritages used to overcome these problems is the rite of tu ju. The tu ju rite is one of the rites that contains the meaning of brotherhood because in practice, this rite invites everyone to live as brothers and sisters with one another. The fraternal meaning of this rite is conveyed through three things, namely through material goods, symbolic actions and symbolic expressions. In general, these three things reveal several values, namely, forgiving each other, not harming each other, not harboring hatred and grudges. These values become the support for all communities to build brotherly values between them. Some of these values of brotherhood can be linked to the teachings of the Bible. The author chose the Gospel of Luke 17:1-6 to find the correlation of the meaning of brotherhood in the rite of tu ju according to the teachings conveyed by Jesus in the gospel. This is of course based on the initial hypothesis that there is a correlation between the meaning of brotherhood in the rite of tu ju and the teachings contained in the Gospel of Luke 17:1-6. Both the rite and the Gospel of Luke 17:16, actually convey the meaning of brotherhood even though these two components have different cultural backgrounds, times, places and contexts. However, there are many values contained in the meaning of brotherhood conveyed in the rite of tu ju and the Gospel of Luke 17:1-6. It is these values that make these two things correlated in meaning. First, the prohibition to commit acts of misdirection. In the Gospel of Luke 17:1-2, Jesus warned His disciples of the dangers of apostasy. Apostasy will make other people experience a loss of faith or in other words people who used to believe and now don't believe. The same is expressed in the rite tu ju. In this rite, people are asked not to commit acts of misdirection. Misguidance in this context is nothing but committing a dishonorable act that leads others to fall into sin and lose their faith. Second, the courage to reprimand people who make mistakes. Luke 17:3 says that if any of your brother sins, rebuke him. To rebuke means to warn, to have a serious conversation with a brother, so that he thinks and reflects on his behavior and distances himself from the sin or mistake that has been committed. In this tu ju rite is done when everyone gathers together before the meal together. At that time, Mosalaki will give a warning to people who make mistakes. The rebuke here is not in the capacity to embarrass the person but to correct his mistake so that he does not do it again. Third, forgiveness. In the Gospel of Luke 17:3-4 Jesus instructed His disciples to give forgiveness to others. Forgiveness is manifested in an attitude of forgiving one another. The same can be found in the tu ju rite. In this rite, everyone is asked to forgive others who have done something wrong. Th} }
