As the growing of mobile users, radio communication traffic increased demanded to be more reliable. A method to improve reliability is the space diversity technique. In this research, the effect of spacing between antennas in the network using space diversity technique. Taken 3 sites in the South Kalimantan area. Includes design of 4 conditions, before the space diversity, after standard space diversity, minimum spacing, and maximum spacing. The main parameters that observed is availability in minimum and maximum spacing. The results of network above land with minimum spacing obtained fading margin 37.13 dB and availability 99.99968%; while the maximum spacing fading margin 37.42 dB and availability 99.99996%. Then the network above sea, minimum spacing fading margin 28.93 dB and availability 99.7771313%; while the maximum spacing obtained fading margin 29.25 dB and availability 99.97442%. With the optimazation space diversity techniques on simulations, found that the reliability of the system was increased by the small duration of the device fault within a year. The results of network above land with minimum spacing obtained the device fault duration 100.26 seconds per year; while the maximum spacing the device’s fault duration 12.23 seconds per year. Then the network above sea with maximum space, the possibility of device’s fault duration 69652 seconds per year; while the maximum space for the network above the sea, the possibility of a device's fault duration 8067.4 seconds per year.
